The day started late for Klaas, with his first match not until 13:45.

His judo was inconsistent today and, frankly, below his level, but he fought his way through it admirably:

• 1st match (LTU 🇱🇹) – loss

• 2nd match (LAT 🇱🇻) – win in the last 2 seconds with a last-ditch effort… pfff

•⁠ ⁠3rd match (BE 🇧🇪) – win with three shido

• 4th match (DE 🇩🇪) – win by ippon

• 5th match (DE 🇩🇪, finished 2nd at another cup) – win by ippon

• 6th match (FR 🇫🇷) – loss by three shido

Ultimately finished in 5th place, despite an off day on the mat.

That is precisely what makes this achievement all the more impressive; he can certainly be proud of it.

With his 5th place, Klaas has climbed to 22nd place on the world rankings! 🚀
